Royal Rajasthan: Forts & Palaces Tour for LGBT Travelers

After a slow, delicious breakfast, your guide arrives for a full-day tour of Jaipur. First stop: Amer Fort, where you'll board a private jeep. Inside, explore the Mirror Hall, the Zenana (royal women's quarters), and courtyards full of Rajput history. By late morning, stop at the Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing, a charming LGBTQ+ safe space showcasing centuries-old textile crafts. Enjoy lunch at Bar Palladio or Café Palladio, both known for elegant European-Rajputana interiors and inclusive vibes. In the afternoon, visit the City Palace and Jantar Mantar. Get to Jodhpur by late afternoon and check in at RAAS Jodhpur, a gorgeous facility that combines antiquity with minimalist elegance. Umaid Bhawan Palace provides a dreamy experience for ultra-luxury guests, complete with royal suites and butler service.

From your private balcony or the rooftop infinity pool, spend your evening taking in the Mehrangarh Fort sunset.

Spend the night in Jodhpur.

Today is the day of immersion. Start with a guided walk through Mehrangarh Fort, one of India's most majestic. Explore the zenana courtyards, battle galleries, palanquins and delicate glass work at the Phool Mahal. Your guide will recite not just dates and facts, but also emotional tales of royal life, including stories of friendship and forbidden love.

Descend into the old city and wander the blue-painted lanes of Brahmapuri, stopping at hidden stepwells and old temples. Enjoy a light snack at the Stepwell Café and visit the local juti (shoe) workshop, which offers custom designs.

Afterwards, visit 'Jaswant Thada' - a marble cenotaph that glows in the afternoon light. For dinner, we suggest On the Rocks or Indique, both known for their chic ambiance and welcoming staff.

Overnight in Jodhpur.

Leave for Udaipur, sometimes referred to as the Venice of the East, after breakfast. Visit the Ranakpur Jain Temples in the middle, where 1,400 finely carved pillars form a meditation area. The surroundings are calm, the temple personnel are courteous, and this quiet halt gives the tour a spiritual balance.

Arrive in Udaipur early in the evening and check into one of India's most LGBT-friendly luxury hotels, The Oberoi Udaivilas or Taj Lake Palace, which floats on Lake Pichola. Enjoy a private boat trip at sunset – just you, your companion(s), your guide, and the lake reflecting city lights. The sight of the temples, ghats, and palaces is very remarkable.

In Udaipur, spend the night.

Explore museum exhibits that highlight the past of the Mewar dynasty as you begin your day at the magnificent City Palace. One of the rare historical places in India that focuses on gender is Saheliyon Ki Bari, a royal park designed for princesses and their friends.

Explore the art scene in Udaipur after lunch at Ambrai or 1559 AD. Meet artists, see tiny painting galleries, and, if you'd like, commission personalized calligraphy or portraits.

Spend time by the lake or unwind with a couples spa treatment in the afternoon. The evening is perfect for a private dinner at Jagmandir Island Palace or, for a more subdued experience, a candlelit supper in your suite surrounded by rose petals.

In Udaipur, spend the night.

After breakfast, your voyage comes to an end. We will transport you to Udaipur Airport for your journey to Delhi or Mumbai, based on your schedule. Private help and lounge access can be scheduled.

You shall be responsible for and obligated to pay for any expenses incurred by cancellation or modification made between thirty days before the start date of the tour and the end date of the tour within twenty-four hours of the modification. 

If the tour needs to be rescheduled or postponed for any reason other than illness or COVID-19, we are not obligated to pay you for any unused services. You are accountable for any related expenses, which need to be covered within a day.

All tourists entering India excluding natives of Nepal and Bhutan require a valid visa. The six-month validity of a tourist visa cannot be extended. Certain nationals can obtain a visa upon arrival, while others must apply online in advance. Except in certain cases, leaving on a tourist visa prevents you from returning within two months. Entrepreneurs and scholars are eligible for five-year visas. Some sites are off-limits to foreigners, and others require specific licenses.

Travel insurance for overseas travel is meant to accompany you and assist you in making more informed travel choices. All travellers must obtain travel insurance, which must be purchased from their home country with a sum insured of at least USD 100,000. Insurance should be obtained before departure. Personal accidents, death, medical costs and emergency repatriation must all be covered by your insurance. It is highly recommended that you obtain coverage for personal responsibility, loss of luggage, cancellation and curtailment.

You are responsible for all of your belongings during the tour. On domestic carriers, the standard weight limit for checked baggage is 15 kg, and the weight limit for carry-on luggage is 7 kg.

Unfortunately, because our automobiles are not wheelchair accessible, those in wheelchairs or with limited mobility cannot join us on trips anymore.

Please note that if admission to a location is impacted by changes to working hours or public holiday closures, your itinerary may be adjusted, subject to availability, or a comparable activity may be provided in its place.

This includes any requested changes you make to your reservation, such as reissuing an airline ticket or the Purchase Confirmation, among other things.
